Krampus 2 Story Details Teased by Director Michael Dougherty
Director Michael Dougherty, known for his holiday horror films, has teased story details for a potential sequel to his 2015 film Krampus.
In a Q&A with Collider, Dougherty revealed that he has an idea for a Krampus sequel that would depart from the family-centric storyline of the original. He said that the sequel would be more about a group of strangers who are trapped somewhere and have to band together to survive Krampus's wrath.
Dougherty has not yet confirmed whether or not a Krampus sequel is officially in the works, but he did say that he is collaborating with the writers from the first film on the project.
While there has been no movement towards a Krampus sequel, Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat 2 is in the works with a "really good script" according to the director. Dougherty is collaborating with the writers from Krampus to continue the story of Sam in Trick 'r Treat 2.
Krampus 2: A New Angle
A Krampus sequel focused on a different group dynamic, as Dougherty proposed, would be a good excuse for the horned demon to reinforce the Christmas spirit once more. The original Krampus film followed a dysfunctional family as they struggled to get along during the holidays. Their squabbling killed the young son's holiday spirit, and he inadvertently summoned Krampus. The family was forced to band together in the spirit of family to survive the beast's hunt.
A Krampus sequel focusing on a group of strangers trapped somewhere would be a unique and suspenseful way to tell the story. It would also be interesting to see how Krampus would interact with this new group dynamic. Would he play them off against each other, or would he force them to work together to survive?
Krampus 2: When Will It Happen?
It is unclear when or if a Krampus sequel will be made. Dougherty is currently working on Trick 'r Treat 2, so it is likely that a Krampus sequel would not be released until after that film is complete.
However, the fact that Dougherty and the writers from Krampus are already collaborating on a sequel is a good sign. It shows that they are passionate about the project and that they have a clear vision for the story.
If a Krampus sequel is made, it will be interesting to see how it compares to the original film. Will it be a more traditional horror film, or will it retain the dark humor and satire of the first film? Only time will tell.
